Embracing the RV Lifestyle: Our Launch Day Story

It’s launch day—well, a couple of days later than we originally planned—but the moment has finally arrived. To be honest, tensions have been running high in the Garland household. A last-minute electrical issue set us back, and while I know setbacks are part of the process, this one felt especially unsettling, almost as if we weren’t meant to move forward. Of course, it’s just nerves, but it was still disappointing. Sam likened the experience of packing up and leaving to how our kids must have felt leaving for college—excited, anxious, a little sad about what we’ll miss, but also looking forward to everything we’ll experience. As for me, my brain feels like it’s been tossed into the bowl of my Kitchen Aid mixer… on high.

As we pull out of the driveway, it’s a bittersweet moment. I can’t quite wrap my head around the idea of selling our home and embracing the RV lifestyle full-time for the foreseeable future. Many adventurous people choose that path, and I wish them all the best. Of course, we’ll have to see what the next few months bring—who knows, maybe we’ll be the ones going all in!

Our first stop is an overnight stop somewhere on the way out of the northeast.  The goal is to make it to VA, then the next day onto Charleston SC where it will be consistently warmer to de winterize the rig.

We also got to experience the charming city of Charleston.  Stay Tuned for our next video where we explore Charleston, Savannah and St. Mary’s along our route.
