Our road trip adventures took us through a stretch of the Midwest that blended natural beauty, quirky Americana, and family history. Each stop was a reminder that travel is about so much more than destinations—it’s about the stories along the way.
Myers-Big State Park
We started our day at Myers-Big State Park. With its quiet trails and open landscapes, the park offered the perfect chance to stretch our legs and take in a bit of Minnesota’s natural beauty. The crisp air, shaded paths, and peaceful atmosphere made it a refreshing stop before diving back into the busier side of travel.

The Spam Museum – Austin, MN
From the outdoors to the unexpected, our next stop was the Spam Museum in Austin, Minnesota. This quirky spot celebrates the history of Spam, the iconic canned meat that found its way into kitchens (and lunchboxes) across America and beyond. Interactive exhibits, colorful displays, and a healthy dose of humor made it an entertaining visit. Whether you’re a Spam fan or not, the museum is a fun reminder of how food connects culture and history.

Harvest Host Stop – South Dakota Tractor Museum
As evening came, we pulled into our Harvest Hosts stop at the South Dakota Tractor Museum. Surrounded by rows of vintage tractors and farm equipment, it felt like stepping back into another era. Sam took the opportunity to share family stories about growing up around farming—memories of hard work, changing times, and the pride that comes with working the land. It was one of those stops where history and personal heritage intertwined, giving extra meaning to our journey.

Wrapping Up the Day
By the time the sun set, we realized this day had been about more than sightseeing. From the peace of the state park, to the humor of the Spam Museum, to the heartfelt stories sparked by old tractors, each moment reminded us why we travel—to connect with the land, with history, and with each other.
