We kicked off 2024 chasing a dream—leaving our careers, hitting the road in our travel trailer with our pup Annie, and setting off to explore the U.S. on what we called our “Golden Gap Year.”

After 12,000 miles and 16 national parks, we got the call—our son Jonathan had a surprise kidney match. Everything stopped.

Laurie flew home. Sam drove 4 days straight. And Jonathan got his transplant. A miracle we’ll never stop being grateful for. 💚

Now, after time at home in Vermont, we’re back on the road for Phase Two—fall adventures, golden aspens in Colorado, and finally crossing into Canada to see Banff and Jasper.
