Our adventure through the Canadian Rockies brought us to one of the most beautiful corners of North America: Banff and Yoho National Parks. The combination of turquoise lakes, towering peaks, and endless trails made this trip unforgettable—and a little wild too.
Camping at Lake Louise
We set up camp at the Lake Louise Campground, a perfect home base for exploring both Banff and Yoho. Nestled along the Bow River, the setting was serene, yet alive with the constant sound of trains passing through the valley day and night. It was a reminder of how these rugged landscapes have always been tied to the railway and travel. Falling asleep with the rush of the river was wonderful. Waking to a train whistle, not so much.

Iconic Lake Louise and the Lake Agnes Tea House Hike
Of course, no trip to Banff is complete without seeing Lake Louise. The shimmering turquoise water framed by glacier-draped mountains was even more stunning in person than in the photos. We laced up our boots and hiked the trail up to Lake Agnes, a climb that rewarded us with alpine views and the charming Lake Agnes Tea House. Sitting on their porch with a hot cup of tea, looking over the peaceful lake, was a highlight of the trip.
Exploring Yoho National Park
Just across the border in British Columbia lies Yoho National Park, and it felt like a hidden gem compared to the crowds at Lake Louise. We chased waterfalls, marveled at the churning power of the Natural Bridge, and soaked in the surreal beauty of Emerald Lake, its water reflecting the surrounding peaks in shades of green and blue. Each stop was like discovering a new secret tucked into the mountains.

Suspension Bridge Adventure in Golden
From Yoho, we continued west to the town of Golden, BC, where we tested our nerves at the Golden Skybridge. Walking across Canada’s highest suspension bridge, swaying high above a rushing canyon, was both thrilling and breathtaking. The views stretched for miles, showing off the rugged backcountry we’d been
exploring.

Wildlife Encounters
The Rockies are as wild as they are beautiful, and we were lucky enough to spot elk, mountain goats, and—most exciting of all—a grizzly bear. From a safe distance, we watched it moving through the valley, a reminder that these landscapes are not just playgrounds for people but true wilderness.

Final Thoughts
Camping by the Bow River, hiking alpine trails, discovering Yoho’s hidden treasures, and braving a suspension bridge made this trip one of our most memorable adventures yet. The mix of iconic spots and quiet corners reminded us why the Canadian Rockies hold such a special place in travelers’ hearts.
